Awards |
USCF State
Championship medals will be awarded to the top three teams
in each category that hold yearly racing licenses.
One day licenses holders must ride in the Open category and
the team is not eligible for State Medals or State jerseies.
The event is keeping the fees very low so this year.
Nippy Feldhake and Southwest Hand Cycling Team will NOT be
purchasing the Arizona State Championship Jersey for the
winners. However each team category winner has the option
to purchase a jersey from Velo Wear. We do not know how many
teams will show up and the jersey for each team would cost
$240 or $60 per cyclist. This would make the cost per team
$320 or $80 per rider for the event to purchase the jersey.
We will review this next year. |
| Changes from 2007 |
Changes
for 2008 include:
Team time
trial points count toward team points earned, per the
ABRA Board.
All
cyclists on the same "team" must wear the same jersey
this year!
|
| Race
Bible
pdf of info here |
Time will be taken on the third cyclist to cross the finish
line. All riders will be given the same finish time.
When picking up numbers all riders licenses must be present
and all release forms signed before a number is handed out.
All (USA CYCLING) Rules
apply. Course closes after the first rider is off.
Any racer warming up on the course
after the race starts will be disqualified. No
Exceptions. |
| FAQ's |
QUESTION:
Can a team register with only 3 riders?
ANSWER:
NO, all teams must start with 4 cyclists however they may
finish with 3 as the time is stopped on the third cyclist.
(Yes the 4th rider can ride 5 feet and stop!)
QUESTION:
Do all 4 cyclists have to be on the same ABRA team?
ANSWER:
For this year and until the event is well established, NO,
cyclist can come from different ABRA or Non-ABRA teams.
QUESTION:
Can unattached cyclist participate in this event?
ANSWER:
YES, they can be a part of a 4 person team.
QUESTION:
What happens if one of are teammate has to rescue an
elephant from Alaska and can not make the race?
ANSWER:
First I hope the elephant is saved, you can use an
alternate rider > First the new rider must have a USA
CYCLING License annual or one day License. Second the
new rider MUST sign the release form and have the license
verified BEFORE they ride. If you have already pick up the
number at early packet pick up and change in the morning the
rider WILL use the same number and MUST check
in BEFORE the team starts. IF the rider does not
check in the team will be deemed ineligible and DISQUALIFIED
from the event. No exceptions. The Team due to the change
may change categories based on the new rider, they will keep
their original start time and scored with the correct
category.
NOTE:
Tri-Athletes and all
cyclist must wear jersey with sleeves. Per the USA Cycling
Rule Book. Sleeves-less Jersey/skin suit are not allowed. From the Rule book:
1K2. Jerseys
must be worn in all races and
shall cover the shoulders.

Parking |
DO NOT park in the Bowlin's Dairy Queen PAVED parking area
near the gas pumps or store. They need the parking for
paying customers. Park in the dirt area, especially over
night RV cyclist. They have been nice to allow both us and
Saguaro Velo to use their property for parking and the start
area. Please do not ruin it for everybody by parking in the
PAVED area.
Parking for 2008 will be in the dirt lot North of the New Bowlin
Travel Center and Shell Gas Station Due to the regular lot being
used completely by The Ashton Company for the widening of I-10.
Again Please do not park in either of the pave lots at the Bowlin
Dairy Queen or New Travel Center. |

Course Marking |
The State of Arizona does not allow paint to be place on the
road for special events like cycling races. The course will
be marked with sign in KM every 5 Kilometers. So 5k, 10k,
15k, 20k, 25k, 35k, in addition per USA Cycling rules a 1 K
and 200 meter from the finish line or to go signs. So please
DO NOT drive the course and place MILE marks in paint on the
pavement. This was done last year and confused a number of
cyclists. THANK YOU for your understanding and cooperation
on this matter. |
